Literature Text

While "Wood Elf" may be the layman's term for these Mer, they prefer to call themelves the "Bosmer".  Loosely translated, it means the "Tree-Sap people".  Bosmer are clanfolk hailing from the south-western Valenwood forests.  They are quick and nimble, both in body and with, and their natural curiosity and agility make them excellent scouts and agents.  There are no better marksmen in all of the Empire.

Personality: Bosmer are generally bright and cheerful individuals.  They carry in their hearts a zeal for life that others find difficult to match.  This same intensity can be a great disadvantage, however.  It can be said that Bosmer are cursed to feel emotions far stronger than any other sentient with a heart.  Their highs are brilliant and vibrant, but their lows can be terrible and disastrous.  Bosmer are people of the woods; they are most comfortable in the wild forests of the world, and tend to avoid crowded cities if possible.  Such places make them feel uneasy.

Physical Description: Bosmer are of a short, light frame.  They are usually between 3 to 4½ feet in height, with an average weight of 60 to 120 pounds.  Unlike other races, the female Bosmer tends to bet taller and heavier than the male.  Their hair is known to come in various shades of gold, auburn and brown.  They have brown or golden eyes.  One of their most notable traits if the delicate shape of their highly defined bones – this is best noted in their high, regal cheekbones.

Relations: Wood Elves seek to explore and understand their neighboring cultures, but they often do so with a seemingly mad or obsessed fervor.  They are constantly abuzz with questions and curiosity, and always want to know why things happen the way they do.  Culturally, Wood Elves and Khajiit are mortal enemies; the two races have swung between open warfare and uneasy alliance almost from the day they first met.  Of all the races, Wood Elves are the most hateful of Orcs.

Alignment: Feverishly virtuous, Bosmer tend towards chaotic good in alignment.

Adventurers: The calling of the adventurer is not difficult for a Bosmer to fathom or feel.  What better way to see other people and experience their cultures, than to travel and live among them?  What better way to understand the drives and desires of others, than to see what they fight for and, perhaps, to fight alongside them?
